WFS-promoted books

The WFS occasionally promote waxbill-associated literature that offer an enhanced understanding of these species of birds.

The chosen books are available both at branch meetings and now on-line through this page.

Please note: The society is run by volunteers and we ask that you allow up to two weeks for orders to be processed.

Postage

With the high costs of postage, there will be a charge of £9.99 UK postage and packing for delivery of G.J. Huisman's 'Estrildid Finches of the World'.

Where available, the books can be purchased by members at branch meetings for £75.

Overview

The book describes in detail all 145 estrildid finch species (and their subspecies). It is supported by unique distribution maps and beautiful photographs of the birds in their natural habitats that represent the work of close to 300 photographers from 40 countries around the world.

The book was written over a period of 9 years and is intended for a wide audience: not only bird lovers and bird watchers but also ornithologists and other scientists.
